Your story bank
Write eight work stories once, so a "tell me about a time" question never finds you empty.
Skip to Practise it out loudYour eight stories
Each story should run about 160 seconds spoken. About 75 of those are what you did. Open one story at a time. Stories can stay empty; the grid below uses only stories with a headline.
Which skill does each story cover?
Seven skills interviewers probe. Pick your best story for each, and a back-up. A skill with one story is a risk. A skill with none is a gap.

Practise it out loud
Say it with a clock running and see where you went quiet or ran long.
Practise: Behavioural (15 min)What to know
- Eight stories should cover seven skills; one story can serve more than one.
- Say what you did. "We" hides your part.
- Name the option you turned down and what it cost.
- A story with no number is a hard one to believe.
